Preserve and rehabilitate endangered coral reefs in the southeast of Sulawesi Island in Indonesia, thereby ensuring the biological diversity essential to the food security of coastal populations. Reforesting areas that have been completely deforested in the vicinity of the main villages surrounding the Makay protected area. The aim is to preserve the massif’s natural ecosystems while improving living conditions for the 25,000 people who depend on the services they provide (water, wood, medicines, etc.).

Obtaining a voluntary commitment from local communities to the conservation of the Makay and respectful management of natural resources. With the help of fun, interactive teaching aids, animators will carry out awareness-raising missions – particularly with children – to pass on general ecological knowledge. These will enable us to understand how ecosystems function and the global ecological issues at stake.

Set up a patrol system within the Makay protected area. Ecoguards will monitor species on a daily scientific basis, and keep an eye on human pressures on the natural environment. They will also play a preventive and warning role for all Makay users.

Create in southeast Sulawesi a sanctuary for the giant clams, these endangered animals. This reserve will increase their reproduction rate and will have a beneficial effect on all the reefs of the region.
