First activities in support of beekeeping

At the beginning of 2018, the Naturevolution team in Madagascar carried out the missions prior to the launch of the beekeeping project in Makay. While, on the French side, the team is busy to supplement the project budget, it is necessary to set up the technical support for the project, assess the situation specific to each village, and identify the first beekeepers.

Makay honey

Developing a beekeeping industry in ten villages around the Makay protected area. The aim is to provide local people with additional income while encouraging them to respect and preserve the forests of the massif. To this end, apiaries will be set up, beekeepers will be trained and equipped, and the honey produced will be sold locally and internationally.

Refuse plastic

Implementing exemplary, sustainable waste management in coastal villages on the southeastern island of Sulawesi. Clean-ups will raise awareness and provide training in sorting in the villages, and a collection circuit will be set up. A recycling chain will also be developed to maximize the value of waste.

Makay children at school

To provide quality, inclusive and equitable education to give the people of Makay the tools they need to improve their lives and achieve sustainable development. To this objective, schools will be built and equipped and teachers will be recruited and paid.

Seeds of change

Fight food insecurity and protect the unique biodiversity of the Makay Protected Area. Thanks to rice paddies and school gardens, local communities are trained in new agro-ecological techniques. Community granaries are set up to guarantee stocks throughout the year. Vegetable garden produce is used in school canteens to promote school enrolment.
