Spitsbergen 2010

This scientific mission attended by Jean-Michel Bichain, our chief scientist, took place in the Svalbard archipelago in Norway in July-August 2010.

Its goal was to go in search of the first insects.

Such fossils of terrestrial arthropods are very rare (only three known deposits in the world), and unknown in Spitsbergen.

The expedition was supported by Jean-Louis Etienne and its main partners were Paul Emile Victor Polar Institute (ENPI) and the National Museum of Natural History.
